Bruce J. Swearingen, Jr., MD
Dr. Swearingen is a board-eligible vascular surgeon. After completing his training, Dr. Swearingen returned to The Vascular Experts and dedicated his time to taking care of patients with vascular diseases using medical and minimally invasive techniques.
Prior to returning to clinical practice, Dr. Swearingen spent time researching a Department of Defense funded grant doing microvascular transplantation for the Wounded Warrior Project. He has published many peer-review articles and has written book chapters.
Dr. Swearingen treats patients with a full spectrum of vascular diseases including superficial venous, deep venous, arterial insufficiency, aortic aneurysm, carotid stenosis, and dialysis access maintenance.
In addition to his commitment to his work life, Dr. Swearingen is an avid soccer player, and enjoys outdoor sports like skiing, sailing, and scuba. He is a published poet and plays alto saxophone. Dr. Swearingen will be treating patients in our Rhode Island office.

Bart E. Muhs, MD, PhD, FACS
Bart E. Muhs, MD, PhD, FACS is a Board-certified, internationally respected vascular surgeon who brings a wealth of vascular knowledge and experience to The Vascular Experts.
Prior to joining, Dr. Muhs was the Co-Director of Endovascular Surgery and the Clinical Director of Vascular Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Muhs has an international reputation for quality. He serves on the Editorial Board of Endovascular Today and is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Therapy and the journal Aorta. Dr. Muhs is a frequent lecturer and proctor around the world having given invited lectures and performing surgery in over fifteen different countries.
He has quickly established himself as one of the leading vascular physicians in the area, performing more endovascular aortic repairs than any other regional physician. He has served as the lead investigator on numerous clinical trials, evaluating new devices and techniques for the treatment of vascular problems. Dr. Muhs was the first physician in Connecticut to perform advanced aortic fenestrated repairs and aortic repairs without incisions. His overarching drive has been to deliver less invasive, better quality and more effective care with a relentless drive to avoid open surgery. Dr. Muhs remains on the leading edge of the endovascular revolution in vascular surgery

Harry Ma, MD, PhD
Harry Ma, MD, PhD is a Board-certified general and vascular surgeon.
Dr. Ma specializes in the care and surgical management of peripheral artery disease (PAD), cerebral vascular disease, aortic aneurysms, varicose veins and venous insufficiency, as well as hemodialysis access.
Previously, Dr. Ma served as the Assistant Professor at the School of Community Medicine at the University of Oklahoma at Tulsa. Additionally, his doctoral work focused on vascular biology which led him to Boston, Mass. to continue his surgical fellowships in burn/critical care at Massachusetts General Hospital, and in vascular and endovascular at Tufts Medical Center.
Dr. Ma also focuses on limb salvage for patients with significant lower extremity ulcerations. He is committed to utilizing both endovascular, minimally invasive and open surgical techniques to provide the most up-to-date and personalized care to each patient.
